thats great daniel, i follow JD's work (he's a distant relative of mine) and love what you all did for burst labs! i've really been tracking sites that use visualization techniques and create unique experiences.

user interfaces like the iphone and nintendo wii are really helping people learn to navigate experiences differently. but you're right, and i'm sure you have some tracking to back it all up, people have trouble navigating sites that aren't logo top left, top nav, left nav. its a trap we've built for ourselves and the user expectations for the web.

keep pushing things forward. and thanks for the kind words.

I am humbled you would be reminded of our music licensing site Burst Labs while viewing such a fantastic design as thoughtpile.org. Thanks for noticing! It's super cool when people who have actual taste and talent mention a project that we've worked so hard on... much appreciated.

I sent a note to our designer JD Hooge (of Gridplane) about your post, as well.

We've had ideas for the future about including user feedback on our site, but, as you mentioned, finding ways to have that additional content and input be useful, while educating our users to not be afraid and try something new... well, it's a tough sell and a huge investment in time and energy, as you well know. It's amazing how many people desire familiar interfaces and online experiences. Hopefully as more people are drawn to great design and memorable experiences we'll be able to take the time to realize all our ideas, hey?

Thanks again for the link, and for sharing cool sites such as thoughtpile.org. Really great, man.
