Type + Image

It seems fairly easy to drop some type in an image, especially with a beautiful shot. Careful consideration to the image and placement is what makes type “work” within an image or space.

These examples of type placement were used for an internal presentation on the details of design - specifically, type and image.

The key is to understand and outline the image structure, where the focal points meet and converge. And to place the type in a place where it lives and breaths comfortably. The type should become part of the image and environment. Although with shots like these, the type should probably stay out in the column.

Thanks Thad for the great shots.
